The magnificent York River Penthouse is just about a five minute walk from the city’s historic Castle and Coppergate areas where the Castle Museum, Clifford’s Tower, Jorvik Centre are located. It is also just a couple of minutes from river walks and cruises and from the award winning Bishopthorpe Road, known as the Notting Hill of the North with all of its shops, delis, restaurants and welcoming atmosphere. York racecourse is just over a mile from the property.
Through the front door of the main building guests enter the lobby entrance area for the lift, using a special key to take them straight up to York River Penthouse on the 5th floor.
The accommodation itself is furnished to the highest of design standards offering lots of space, quality and 5 star plush comfort for up to four guests.
The lift opens up into the apartment’s large and welcoming hallway.
The living-dining room is vast and has windows spread across both corner walls giving wonderful views along the river. With lounge seating and dining for six this really is a superb space to relax and enjoy.
The separate designer kitchen with breakfast bar has everything a guest could possibly need.
Both bedrooms are sumptuously designed with lots of space to sit, sleep and unwind. The master room has a king bed and Smart TV and has an en-suite wet room. The second bedroom has a super-king sized bed which can be split into twin beds, also an en-suite shower room.
Parking is on-site for one vehicle (with no restriction on size).
Wifi is provided together with BT TV, Smart TV, Netflix connectivity, bluetooth sound system, air-con and more!

Level Access & Lift - There is a private parking bay in the grounds of the building which gives level access to the building door.
There is a small step up of a couple of inches into the lobby area which is all on one level. The flooring is tiled.
A lift takes visitors straight into their Penthouse at 5th floor level.
Please be aware that if the lift is out of action (not happened yet but it might!) there are 5 flights of stairs use.
Level Living Space - York River Penthouse is all on one level including the exit fom the lift.
The hallway and living-dining areas have wooden flooring.
Ther are double doors leading into the living area.
The furniture is of standard height and accommodated 4 guests+ in the lounge and 6 guests at the dining table.

York River Penthouse is located just across the River Ouse from Clifford’s Tower and The Castle Museum, being about five minutes’ walk from the city. It is just a couple of mintes’ walk from The Bishopthorpe Road where there are lots of lovely shops, delis and restaurants. River walks and river cruises are on the doorstep.
Access & Departure
If departing guests are leaving on the morning of your arrival, the accommodation will be ready around 3.00pm. If we do not have guests leaving on the morning of your arrival then access can be earlier by prior arrangement. Check out is normally for 10.00am. Guests will be personally welcomed on arrival.
Parking for one vehicle is on-site.
If arriving by train a taxi ride will take less than ten minutes.

Are you open all year?
Yes! Stays can be as short as 2 nights or as many as 30 nights. Guests can arrive any available day. Please note, however, we do not accept arrivals/departures on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve or New Year's Day. A higher minimum night stay applies over these periods.
How central is York River Penthouse?
Just about five minutes’ walk from the Castle and Coppergate area of the city across the River Ouse.
Is it noisy being in the centre of the city?
York is a bustling and busy city at any time of year as there is so much to see and do but it is rare for anyone to be disturbed by noise. Even The Minster bells are considerate and don’t ring at night! York River Penthouse is in a quiet residential area just outside of the city walls and away from the city night life.
Are we likely to feel hemmed in?
York River Penthouse is on the 5th floor of a contemporary apartment building. Most of it’s walls are glass so there is plenty of natural light flooding through the windows. The accommodation is large, bright and airy so occupants should feel extremely comfortable and relaxed.
How accessible are you by train?
York is on the main rail routes between London and Scotland with trains running a few times an hour (2 hrs to London and 2.5 hrs to Edinburgh). We are also served very well with trains to the west and east, as well as Manchester Airport. The apartment is just about a 12 minute walk from the station. Call 08457 225 225 for fantastic deals on the East Coast Mainline, particularly first class tickets which, when booked in advance, can be cheaper than the standard price. Advance tickets can often be purchased cheaper than buying on the day.
If we travel by car where can we park?
On site parking is provided for one vehicle in a private parking bay.
I understand York floods regularly, will we be affected?
It has never flooded up to the building and the city has emergency warning systems in place.
How far are the nearest airports and what is easiest transport?
From Canada & the US many flights can come in to Manchester which is nearer than London. From here it is a direct train journey of approx. 2 hours to York. We can also provide details of a local chauffeur, who we and many other guests use, as this can work out almost as cheap as train fares when there are a few travelling, and certainly more convenient. If flying into Leeds/Bradford from Europe or on the London shuttle you will need to take a taxi to Leeds railway station for a train to York or use taxi/chauffeur all the way to York.
How can we book a break at York River Penthouse?
If booking your break more than one month in advance you will be asked to pay a 40% deposit and booking fee of £35.00. The balance will be due one month before arrival. If arriving within the month the full amount will be required upon booking. Payment can be made by card by using our secure on-line booking page. Just click on the ‘book' tab and follow the simple process to check availability, place your booking and to pay the deposit or full amount. We accept all credit and debit cards but please note we do not accept Amex, cheques, cash or bank transfers.
What happens when we have booked?
If booking on-line you will receive an immediate e-mail confirming your booking and payment made. You will then receive a more detailed e-mail with further confirmation including information regarding access, directions etc. If you have paid a deposit only, you will be sent a secure payment link approx 5 weeks before your arrival so that your final payment can be made. Booking by phone will follow the same process.
How do we get the keys?
Arrangements will be made with you closer to the date to confirm arrival time so that your hosts can meet you to show you around and to hand over your keys.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Your accommodation will be ready from 3pm and, if no-one is leaving that morning, it may be ready earlier by arrangement. Check out is before 10.00am so that the property can be prepared thoroughly between guests.
Do we have to clean up when we leave?
No! Many self-catering properties ask you to do this or charge separately. Everything will be spotless when you arrive, and it is the owners' job to make sure the apartment is spotless again for the next guests. Obviously you are asked to respect the property and its contents, and to leave all in good order.
Do you accept children?
Because of the amount of windows and the height, this property is not suitable for children under the age of 12 years old.
Are your properties suitable for wheelchair users?
The property does have a lift from the building entrance straight into the apartment itself. However, there are a few steps leading to the lift lobby area at ground floor. There is also the risk that on very rare occasions the lift might be out of action for maintenance.
Are there any restrictions?
There is strictly no smoking within the apartment or its building. Also animals/pets are not permitted. The property accommodates up to four guests and children twelve years old or more are welcome. We also do not allow hen, stag or other such parties, as the property is in a peaceful residential area.
Do you have any hidden charges?
No we don’t. Only unauthorised use of the phone may be charged (a phone is provided for emergency calls and to contact your hosts if required). Also any replacement or repair costs for damage during your stay. This forms part of our terms and conditions so you are advised to read the terms and conditions at our website and to ensure that your house insurance protects you against damage; and you agree to pay any recompense within 4 weeks of departure.
Do you have computer access & what TV/entertainment do you have?
Complimentary wi-fi is provided throughout the apartment. There is a SMART TV with Freeview and Netflix connectivity in the main bedroom and TV with BT TV package and Freeview in the living room. A blu-tooth sound system is also provided.
