This beautiful holiday property is in a small and select high-class development of apartments overlooking York's Medieval Walls and is just a couple of minutes' walk from The Minster.

It offers a luxurious and modern interior, giving guests incredibly high standards of accommodation with a warm welcome, two sumptuous bedrooms and with free parking in a small private car-park opposite.  With views of The Minster and the City Walls, and with every convenience to hand, it is in a fantastic location for shopping, wining, dining, exploring and more. Although the apartment itself is so wonderful you may just want to curl up and not go anywhere!

Guests can stay for two nights or more and can arrive any available day. (Restrictions apply Christmas and New Year.)


This truly stunning two bedroom apartment is accessed through the building's gates and front garden and through the secure entrance, then via stairs from ground level to the first floor. The property is beautifully furnished throughout offering lots of space for up to four people (please note that this property is not suitable for single gender groups of more than three guests).

From the apartment's warm and welcoming hallway it has a large and sumptuous living-dining room with high quality furnishing and fittings and a full glass wall overlooking the City Walls - particularly beautiful in the spring when covered in daffodils. It has a designer kitchen with everything you could possibly need or want, including a Nespresso coffee machine, and a pristine family bathroom with bath and power-shower. It also offers two gorgeous and cosy bedrooms, one with king sized bed and the other a double. There is also a small private shared garden to the rear, with seating. Parking is provided directly opposite the front building entrance.

Luggage can be dropped off at the rear of the building.


From street level, through the flat level front garden path and then into the building main front door are 2.5 steps.  This leads into the building square entrance hall.

From street level, though the flat level rear shared garden and then into the building rear door is 1 step.  This leads into the rear corridor and then through a fire door into the building square entrance hall.


A dog-legged staircase of 16 stairs leads from the entrance hall to the first floor for the apartment entrance.

The entrance areas and stairs are carpeted.

The bannister is on the left when ascending.


From the first floor landing there is a fire door into the corridor for the apartment.


The apartment is all on one level.


All internal doors are of standard height and width.

All floors are carpeted except kitchen and bathroom which are tiled.

Lighting is at various levels throughout.


There is an open plan living-dining-kitchen.

Signature Apartment No. 5 is located near Monk Bar opposite York's Medieval City Walls just off St Maurice's Road. The property is accessed via the building's garden gates, through the secure entrance and up a flight of stairs to the first floor.

The property overlooks the City Walls and is a very short walk from The Minster. Everything is close by.

Access & Departure

Guests are welcome to drop off luggage anytime from late morning by prior arrangement. If guests are leaving that morning the accommodation will be ready from 3pm at the very latest. If there are no guests leaving that day access can be earlier. Check out is normally for 10.30am, luggage can be secured until later by prior arrangement. Guests will be personally welcomed on arrival.


Free parking is provided opposite the building entrance in a small and private car park in an allocated bay.


If arriving by train, Signature Apartment No. 5 is approximately a 15 minute walk over the river but is a bit awkward with heavy suitcases so it is probably better to use a taxi, which will take about 5 minutes.

Are you open all year?

Signature Apartment No.5 is open for bookings all year. Stays can be as short as 2 nights or as many as 30 nights. Guests can arrive any available day. Please note, however, we do not accept arrivals/departures on Xmas Eve, Xmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve or New Year's Day. 

How central are the apartments?

Just two minutes' walk from The Minster area, right in the very heart of York, and overlooking the lovely City Walls at Monk Bar with shops, restaurants, museums and more to hand.

Is it noisy being in the centre of the city?

York is a bustling and busy city at any time of year so there will always be some activity in any area of the city in which you stay. This is why York is so popular, because it exudes life and creates fascination for all who visit. Staying in one of our properties will put you right in the heart of everything - and our guests love it.

How close are you to the Minster & do the bells disturb?

The bells don't ring at night!....but do chime the time during the day and have bell-ringing practice around tea-time on some days.  Signature Apartment No.5 has stunning views over the medieval city walls, as well as a lovely view of The Minster through the living room window. The Minster itself is just a couple of minutes' walk through Monk Bar (medieval arched entry gate to the city) and along Goodramgate.

Are we likely to feel hemmed in?

Signature Apartment No. 5 is located at 1st floor level in a small and exclusive building with views over the City Walls through the wonderful glass wall in the living room. The bedrooms at the back of the property overlook the lovely private shared garden. The apartment itself is large, light and airy so no-one should feel hemmed in but instead should feel completely private and relaxed.

How accessible are you by train?

York is on the main rail routes between London and Scotland with trains running a few times an hour (2 hrs to London and 2.5 hrs to Edinburgh). We are also served very well with trains to the west and east, as well as Manchester Airport. The apartment is just a short walk from the station (although a bit too far with heavy suitcases), or a few minutes by taxi. Call 08457 225 225 for fantastic deals on the East Coast Mainline, particularly first class tickets which, when booked in advance, can be cheaper than the standard price. Advance tickets can often be purchased cheaper than buying on the day.

If we travel by car where can we park?

Free parking for one vehicle is provided opposite the building's entrance in a small and private car park in an allocated bay.

I understand York floods regularly, will we be affected?

Although the river is just a couple of minutes walk away, it does not flood in this area.

How far are the nearest airports and what is easiest transport?

From Canada & the US many flights can come in to Manchester which is nearer than London. From here it is a direct train journey of approx. 2 hours to York. We can also provide details of a local chauffeur, who we and many other guests use, as this can work out almost as cheap as train fares when there are a few travelling, and certainly more convenient. If flying into Leeds/Bradford from Europe or on the London shuttle you will need to take a taxi to Leeds railway station for a train to York or use taxi/chauffeur all the way to York.

How can we book a break at Signature Apartment No.5?

If booking your break more than one month in advance you will be asked to pay a 40% deposit and a booking fee of £35.00.  The balance will be due one month before arrival.  If arriving within the month the full amount will be required upon booking.  Payment can be made by card by using our secure on-line booking page.  Just click on the ‘book' button and follow the simple process to check availability and then place your booking.  Please note we do not accept Amex, cheques, cash or bank transfers.

What happens when we have booked?

If booking on-line you will receive an immediate e-mail confirming your booking and payment made.  You will then receive a more detailed e-mail with further confirmation including information regarding access, directions etc.  If you have paid a deposit only, you will be sent a secure payment link approx 5 weeks before your arrival so that your final payment can be made.  Booking by phone will follow the same process.

How do we get the keys?

Arrangements will be made with you by the property owners directly regarding access and parking arrangements.

What time is check-in and check-out?

You may be able to drop off luggage from late morning by prior arrangement.  Your apartment will be ready for 3pm latest and, if no-one is leaving that morning, it will probably be much earlier. Check out is before 10.30am so that the apartment can be prepared thoroughly between guests but again, guests may leave luggage for later collection, by arrangement.

Do we have to clean up when we leave?

No! Many self-catering properties ask you to do this or charge separately. Everything will be spotless when you arrive, and it is the owners' job to make sure the apartment is spotless again for next guests. Obviously you are asked to respect the property and its contents, and to leave it in good order as charges may apply if there is damage.

Do you accept children?

Yes. Children and infants are welcome.

Is this property suitable for wheelchair users?

Because there isn't a lift to the first floor where Signature Apartment No. 5 is located, only stairs, this accommodation is designated as "not suitable for wheelchair users".

Are there any restrictions?

There is strictly no smoking or vaping within the apartment, its building or the garden. Also animals are not permitted. The property accommodates up to four people maximum. We also do not allow hen and stag night parties, nor other such potentially rowdy parites, as the property is in a small and peaceful residential building. (Please refer to terms and conditions.)

Do you have any hidden charges?

No we don't. Only excessive use of the phone may be charged together with any replacement or repair costs for damage during your stay.

What complimentary goodies do we get when we arrive?

A complimentary drink is provided for your arrival and you will also find ample tea, coffee,milk, sugar, juice for the children, plus a few delicious Yorkshire snacks. Also, at an extra charge of £30, you can purchase champagne and chocolates.

Do you have computer access & what TV/entertainment do you have?

Free wi-fi is provided throughout. There is a Smart TV and Blu Ray DVD player in the living area. In each bedroom there is also a digital TV. A sound-dock/i-pod dock/digital radio/sound system is also provided.
