It is located within the city walls with incredible views from its balcony and windows overlooking the River Ouse and towards the castle. It has to be one of the most marvellous locations in York. The property has been completely re-designed and refurbished offering a beautiful, modern and welcoming 5 star interior, giving guests incredibly high standards of accommodation with two sumptuous bedrooms, two bathrooms, secure parking on-site and air conditioning for those warm days. ‘Between the Bridges’ is just a few minutes’ walk from the city centre over either Skeldergate or Ouse Bridge and has every convenience to hand with shops, delis, restaurants, history and more close by. Description

This gorgeous 5 star two bedroom apartment is accessed through the building’s private gates and through the secure building entrance. There is a flight of stairs or a lift, both from the car park and from the main pedestrian entrance, to the apartment which is located at first floor level. The property is beautifully furnished throughout, offering excellent sleeping accommodation in two sumptuous bedrooms. The property accommodates three guests extremely comfortably, with lots of space. This property is only suitable for adults 21 years or over.

Through the apartment’s entrance hall the property opens up into a stunning open plan living-dining room with full length windows overlooking the most beautiful part of the River and across to the Castle - mesmerising by day and night. The room also opens onto a large and furnished covered balcony - the perfect private place to watch the world go by, whatever the weather.

There is a large designer leather sofa, a super-comfortable leather swing chair, luxury bean bag and a bespoke dining table with seating for four. There is also a Smart TV, Netflix connectivity (but please bring own password), wi-fi and a blu-tooth sound system.

The fully equipped and brand new designer kitchen is separate from the living area and is connected via a useful open hatch. With granite work tops, oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, washer-drier and more it offers guests everything they could need during their stay.

The main bedroom has floor to ceiling windows looking over the balcony and across to the river, and offers a luxuriously comfortable king sized bed, sliding wardrobe, automatic closing curtains and Smart TV. The en-suite has a large walk in shower, plump towels and gorgeous toiletries for use. The second bedroom has a superbly comfortable double bed and sliding wardrobe, automatic closing curtains, Smart TV and again with the wonderful river views.

  • Secure gates lead to a flat area for the building main door.

  • The lift takes to the first floor level for the apartment or there are stairs up.

Location

Between the Bridges is in the most fantastic riverside location between Ouse Bridge and Skeldergate Bridge.  With superb views over the river and surrounded by 2000 years of history.  Just a short walk into the city centre.

The property is accessed via the building’s secure gates (pedestrian or by car) and through the secure entrance door to the building.  Stairs or a lift lead to the first floor location of this stunning apartment.  There are shops, delis, restaurants and more on the doorstep.

Secure complimentary parking is provided on site for one vehicle with nothing stored behind the vehicle e.g. bike racks.

Access & Departure

Guests are welcome to drop off luggage from late morning (by prior arrangement).  If departing guests are leaving on the morning of your arrival, the accommodation will be ready around 2.30-3pm.  If we do not have prior guests leaving that morning then access can be earlier by prior arrangement.  Check out is normally for 10.30am, luggage may be stored until later by prior agreement.  Guests will be personally welcomed on arrival.

Car-parking

Secure car parking is provided on site for one vehicle with nothing stored behind the vehicle e.g. bike racks. In the rare event of the river flooding, cars will need to be moved to a nearby carpark, and a permit will be provided.

Train

If arriving by train, ‘Between the Bridges’ is about a 10 minute walk from the station.

Are you open all year?

Yes! Stays can be as short as 2 nights or as many as 30 nights.  Guests can arrive any available day.  Please note, however, we do not accept arrivals/departures on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve or New Year's Day. 

How central is the apartment?

Very! Located on the beautiful riverside on Skeldergate so less than a five minute walk into the very centre of the city.  With shops, restaurants, cafes, history and more close by.

Is it noisy being in the centre of the city?

York is a bustling and busy city at any time of year as there is so much to see and do but it is rare for anyone to be disturbed by noise.  Even The Minster bells are considerate and don’t ring at night!

Are we likely to feel hemmed in?

Between the Bridges is located at first floor level in an exclusive gated development with lots of natural light flooding through all windows which reach floor to ceiling.  The views from all bedrooms and the living room are overlooking the river.  The living room also leads onto the private balcony. The apartment is large, bright and airy so noone should feel hemmed-in but should instead feel totally comfortable and relaxed.

How accessible are you by train?

York is on the main rail routes between London and Scotland with trains running a few times an hour (2 hrs to London and 2.5 hrs to Edinburgh).  We are also served very well with trains to the west and east, as well as Manchester Airport.  The apartment is just about a 10 minute walk from the station.  Call 08457 225 225 for fantastic deals on the LNER, particularly first class tickets which, when booked in advance, can be cheaper than the standard price.  Advance tickets can often be purchased cheaper than buying on the day. From Canada & the US many flights can come in to Manchester which is nearer than London.  From here it is a direct train journey of approx. 2 hours to York.  We can also provide details of a local chauffeur, who we and many other guests use, as this can work out almost as cheap as train fares when there are a few travelling, and certainly more convenient.  If flying into Leeds/Bradford from Europe or on the London shuttle you will need to take a taxi to Leeds railway station for a train to York or use taxi/chauffeur all the way to York.

How can we book our break?

The availability calendars are always up to date so check first that the dates you want are available by clicking on the 'availability/search' or 'book' tabs.  Alternatively you can e-mail us on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

If booking your break more than one month in advance you will be asked to pay a 40% deposit and a booking fee of £35.00.  The balance will be due one month before arrival.  If arriving within the month the full amount will be required upon booking.  Payment can be made by card by using our secure on-line booking page.  Just click on the ‘book' tab and follow the simple process to check availability, place your booking and to pay the deposit or full amount.  We accept all credit and debit cards except for Amex, and please note we do not accept cheques, cash or bank transfers.

What happens when we have booked?

If booking on-line you will receive an immediate e-mail confirming your booking and the payment made.  You will then receive a more detailed e-mail with further confirmation of your booking including information regarding access, directions, car-parking etc.  If you have paid a deposit only, you will be sent a secure payment link approximately 5 weeks before your arrival so that your final payment can be made.

How do we get the keys?

Arrangements will be made with you closer to the date to confirm arrival time so that your hosts can meet you to show you around and to hand over your two sets of keys.

What time is check-in and check-out?

You can drop off luggage from late morning by arrangement. Your property will be ready for around 3pm and, if no-one is leaving that morning, it can be earlier by arrangement.  Check out is before 10.30am so that the apartment can be prepared thoroughly between guests but again guests may leave luggage for later collection, by arrangement.

Do we have to clean up when we leave?

No!  Many self-catering properties ask you to do this or charge separately.  Everything will be spotless when you arrive, and it is the owners' job to make sure the apartment is spotless again for the next guests.  Obviously you are asked to respect the property and its contents, and to leave it in good order.  If you have an accident please advise the owner immediately so it can be made good for next guests.  Charges may apply.  Please see terms and conditions.

Do you accept children?

Sorry but this property is only suitable for adults over aged 21 years old.

Are your properties suitable for wheelchair users?

The property itself is at first floor level with a flight of stairs or lift access, and there is a step-in shower (4” step). In the event of a problem with lift access to the apartment floor, it is important to note that the apartment is only accessible via stairs. Additionally in the rare event that the river should flood heavily then a gang-plank system is used for building access and exit. Cars will need to be removed to another car park nearby and a permit will be provided for this.

  

Are there any restrictions?

There is strictly no smoking within the apartment, on the balcony, its building or grounds.  The property accommodates 3 adults.  Sorry this property is not suitable for children.  Minimum age 21 years old. We also do not allow hen and stag, or similar parties, as the property is in a peaceful residential building.

Do you have any hidden charges?

No we don’t.  Only unauthorised use of the phone may be charged (a phone is provided for emergency calls and to contact your hosts if required).  Also any replacement or repair costs for damage during your stay.  This forms part of our terms and conditions so you are advised to read the terms and conditions at our website and to ensure that your house insurance protects you against damage; and you agree to pay any recompense within 2 weeks of departure.

What complimentary goodies do we get when we arrive?

A complimentary drink and delicious Yorkshire treats are provided for your arrival.  You will also find fresh flowers and ample tea, coffee (including de-caff.) milk and sugar.  At an extra charge of £30 you can purchase champagne and chocolates for that special occasion.

Do you have computer access & what TV/entertainment do you have?

Complimentary wi-fi is provided throughout the apartment.  There is a Smart TV with Netflix (own account and password needed) in the living area and a Smart TV in each bedroom.  There is also a bluetooth speaker.
