The Mews is newly built with high end fixtures and fittings and with designer led furnishings, including the most luxurious and dreamily soft velvet sofa. Offering a beautiful, modern and welcoming 5 star interior, guests will find incredibly high standards of accommodation with two sumptuous bedrooms (one king and one double), an immaculate family bathroom with bath and shower over, open-plan living-dining-kitchen, on-site parking and a bike store.

It is the perfect location for a family break with wonderful accommodation, parks and shops close by but away from the hubbub of the city at night.

It has the added benefit of very easy access by car avoiding the traffic of the city centre.

The Mews is located just around the corner from The Wing which accommodates up to eight guests plus and infant. So for a larger get-together they are perfectly located.

Description

This gorgeous 5 star two bedroom detached house is located in a quiet residential cobbled street accessed through the building’s private gate into a small private courtyard area and then through the secure building entrance. The entrance opens up into a large and bright open plan living-dining-kitchen with breakfast bar, lounge and a dining area, and with the most wonderfully comfortable designer furnishings and high end fixtures and fittings. Also on the ground floor is a W.C. with sink and loo and a separate store/coat room.

There is a flight of stairs leading to the sleeping accommodation at first floor level offering excellent sleeping accommodation in two sumptuous bedrooms (one king and one double), and an immaculate family bathroom with bath and power-shower over.

The property accommodates four guests (plus an infant in a cot) extremely comfortably.

Through the apartment’s main entrance door from the private courtyard the property opens up into a wonderfully modern 5 star open plan living-dining-kitchen room with french doors leading to the private parking bay.

There is a large sumptuously soft designer velvet sofa, a super-comfortable chair and a bespoke dining table with seating for four. There is also a Smart TV with Netflix, wi-fi and a Sonos Smart Music system.

The fully equipped and brand new designer kitchen is separated by a breakfast bar from the living-dining area. With oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, washer-drier, and more, The Mews offers guests everything they could need during their stay.

Also on the ground floor is a W.C. with sink and loo and a separate store/coat room.

A flight of stairs leads to the first floor where there are two gorgeous bedrooms, one with a king bed and the other with a double bed. Both bedrooms have a Smart TV with Netflix.

Children of all ages are welcome and a cot and high chair can be provided for an infant.

On-site parking in a private bay is provided for one vehicle of standard size with additional parking on the residential street or at the owner’s gated property nearby. The property is easily accessible by car from the north ring road, enabling guests to avoid the city traffic.

The Mews is located just on the residential outskirts of the city centre, about a 10 minute walk away along the Georgian main street of Bootham or along the river walks. It is easily accessible by car from the North ring road so avoiding the city traffic.

Parking is on-site for standard sized car allowing ease of loading and unloading. Additional parking is available on the residential street or at the owners’ own property nearby. Shops, delis, restaurants, cafes, parks and more are close by.

Access & Departure

Access is normally from 2.30pm and departure is by 10.30am. (Earlier arrival and later departure may be possible by prior arrangement.)

Guests will be personally welcomed on arrival. A welcome pack of goodies are provided.

Car-parking

Car parking is provided on site for one standard sized vehicle. Additional parking is on the residential street or can be provided at the Owner’s property closeby.

Train

If arriving by train, The Mews is about a 20 minute walk from the station or 7 minutes in a taxi.

Are you open all year?

Yes! Stays can be as short as 2 nights or as many as 30 nights. Guests can arrive any available day. Please note, however, we do not accept arrivals/departures on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve or New Year's Day.   

How central is the property?

The Mews is located just on the outskirts of the city, about a 10 minute walk along the main Georgian street of Bootham or along the river banks. There are shops, restaurants, cafes, parks and more close by.

Is it noisy being in the centre of the city?

York is a bustling and busy city at any time of year as there is so much to see and do but it is rare for anyone to be disturbed by noise. Even The Minster bells are considerate and don’t ring at night! But at The Mews guests are slightly further out of the city, located in a more quiet residential area with no main street for traffic or footfall.

Are we likely to feel hemmed in?

The Mews is a modern newly built property with lots of natural light flooding through all windows. The living area has the added benefit of french doors. The views from all bedrooms are of neighbouring residential houses on a quiet cobbled lane. The property is large, bright and airy so no-one should feel hemmed-in but should instead feel totally comfortable and relaxed.

How accessible are you by train?

York is on the main rail routes between London and Scotland with trains running a few times an hour (2 hrs to London and 2.5 hrs to Edinburgh). We are also served very well with trains to the west and east, as well as Manchester Airport. The apartment is just about 3 minutes’ walk from the station. Call 08457 225 225 for fantastic deals on the East Coast Mainline, particularly first class tickets which, when booked in advance, can be cheaper than the standard price. Advance tickets can often be purchased cheaper than buying on the day.

If we travel by car where can we park?

Complimentary secured parking is available on site for one standard sized vehicle. Additional parking is available on the residential street or at the owner’s gated driveway around the corner.

How far are the nearest airports and what is easiest transport?

From Canada & the US many flights can come in to Manchester which is nearer than London. From here it is a direct train journey of approx. 2 hours to York. We can also provide details of a local chauffeur, who we and many other guests use, as this can work out almost as cheap as train fares when there are a few travelling, and certainly more convenient. If flying into Leeds/Bradford from Europe or on the London shuttle you will need to take a taxi to Leeds railway station for a train to York or use taxi/chauffeur all the way to York.

How can we book our break?

The availability calendars are always up to date so check first that the dates you want are available by clicking on the ‘availability/search’ or ‘book’ tabs. If booking your break more than one month in advance you will be asked to pay a 40% deposit. The balance will be due one month before arrival. If arriving within the month the full amount will be required upon booking. Payment can be made by card by using our secure on-line booking page. Just click on the ‘book' tab and follow the simple process to check availability, place your booking and to pay the deposit or full amount. We accept all credit and debit cards but please note we do not accept cheques, cash or bank transfers.

What happens when we have booked?

If booking on-line you will receive an immediate e-mail confirming your booking and the payment made. You will then receive a more detailed e-mail with further confirmation of your booking including information regarding access, directions, car-parking etc. If you have paid a deposit only, you will be sent a secure payment link approximately 5 weeks before your arrival so that your final payment can be made. Booking by phone will follow the same process.

How do we get the keys?

Arrangements will be made with you closer to the date to confirm arrival time so that your hosts can meet you to show you around and to hand over your two sets of keys.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Your apartment will be ready from 2.30pm and, if no-one is leaving that morning, it can be earlier by arrangement. Check out is before 10.30am so that the property can be prepared thoroughly between guests but again guests may be able to leave luggage for later collection, by arrangement, or a later departure may be possible.

Do we have to clean up when we leave?

No! Many self-catering properties ask you to do this or charge separately. Everything will be spotless when you arrive, and it is the owners' job to make sure the apartment is spotless again for the next guests. Obviously you are asked to respect the property and its contents, and to leave it in good order. We do ask though that you dispose of any rubbish as advised in the information file in your property. If you have an accident please advise your host immediately so it can be made good for next guests. Charges may apply.

Do you accept children?

Yes! Children of any age are welcome and a cot and high chair can be provided.

Is this property suitable for wheelchair users?

The property itself is on two levels with a flight of stairs leading to the bedrooms and bathroom. So it is marked as suitable for less mobile but not full wheelchair users.

Are there any restrictions?

There is strictly no smoking within the property. The property accommodates 4 adults and an infant maximum. Sorry but we can accept a booking for a hen or stag party, or similar, as the property is in a peaceful residential area.

Do you have any hidden charges?

No we don’t. Only unauthorised use of the phone may be charged (a phone is provided for emergency calls and to contact your hosts if required). Also any replacement or repair costs for damage caused during your stay or for any items taken. This forms part of our terms and conditions so you are advised to read the terms and conditions at our website and to ensure that your house insurance protects you against damage etc; and you agree to pay any recompense within 2 weeks of departure.

A complimentary drink and delicious Yorkshire treats are provided for your arrival. You will also find ample tea, coffee, milk and sugar. At an extra charge of £30 you can purchase champagne and chocolates for that special occasion.

Complimentary wi-fi is provided throughout the apartment. There is a SMART TV with Netflix in the living room and each bedroom.  There is also a Sonos Smart music system.
