The accommodation is truly luxurious and sumptuous, is in a terrific location and has the added benefit of on-site parking. Shops, restaurants and more are close by.  The designer interior and space of this property make it probably the best one bedroom apartment in York.

Serenity Inn the City is at the absolute high end of the holiday rental market being in a brand new interior designed conversion within an historic and listed building.

The fixtures and fittings are top-class, with the designer furnishings and presentation being so sumptuously comfortable that this is definitely somewhere that guests will return to, time and time again…..If we can ever get them to leave!

The accommodation is all on one level providing a gorgeous open plan living-dining room with designer kitchen, a beautiful King bedroom and an immaculate shower-room.

This superb 5 star apartment provides on-site parking and is accessed through a secure entrance with a lift or stairs to the first floor.

The views from both the full length windows in the bedroom, and through the original exposed brick framed windows in the living area, are over the River Foss. The enticements of the city are less than a 5 minute walk away. There is also a shared garden area at the front of the main property, once again overlooking the River Foss, with seating all along the river to enjoy this idyllic riverside city centre location.  (For information there is an external public walkway at first floor level which passes by the apartment frontage which gives the quick walking route into the city.) 

Wifi is provided together with Smart TVs in both living room and bedroom, with Freeview & Netflix, blu-tooth sound system, and more.

Location

Serenity Inn the City is located in an historic landmark building on the River Foss. The city centre is less than a 5 minute walk away, Waitrose a 5 minute walk and the haunted 15th century Black Swan pub across the over is just a 3 minute walk! A fantastic location being so close to everything and yet far enough away to enjoy fully.

Access & Departure

Access is normally from 2.30pm. Check out is normally for 10.30am. Guests will be personally welcomed on arrival.

Car-parking

Parking for one vehicle is on-site in a secure gated building.

Train

If arriving by train a taxi ride will take less than ten minutes.

Are you open all year?

Yes! Stays can be as short as 2 nights or as many as 30 nights. Guests can arrive any available day. Please note, however, we do not accept arrivals/departures on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve or New Year's Day.

How central is the property?

Less than a five minute walk from the Fossgate area of the city.

Is it noisy being in the city?

York is a bustling and busy city at any time of year as there is so much to see and do so whilst we cant control noise it is rare for anyone to be disturbed. Even The Minster bells are considerate and don’t ring at night! The accommodation is in a super residential building just outside of the city centre but within the city walls, and is away from the city night life.  There are new building developments happening on the opposite side of the river but this is an ever changing city and there is very little disruption.  

Are we likely to feel hemmed in?

Serenity Inn the City is a modern conversion of part of an historic building, located on the 1st floor. There are large windows so there is plenty of natural light flooding in. The accommodation is definitely bright and airy so occupants should feel extremely comfortable and relaxed within the design led interior of the property.  Although the property is at first floor level there is a public walkway which passes by the apartment frontage.  This gives the quick walking route into the city.

How accessible are you by train?

York is on the main rail routes between London and Scotland with trains running a few times an hour (2 hrs to London and 2.5 hrs to Edinburgh). We are also served very well with trains to the west and east, as well as Manchester Airport. The apartment is just about a 15 minute walk from the station but easier by taxi. Call 08457 225 225 for fantastic deals on the Virgin East Coast Mainline, particularly first class tickets which, when booked in advance, can be cheaper than the standard price. Advance tickets can often be purchased cheaper than buying on the day.

If we travel by car where can we park?

Secure on-site parking is provided for one vehicle in an allocated bay within the well lit parking zone. A secure fob entry key is provided and must be returned on departure.  Please note a charge of £30 will be applied if the parking fob is lost plus the cost of any addtional days parking charges for other guests whilst awaiting a new fob to be received.

I understand York floods regularly, will we be affected?

It has never flooded up to the building and there are emergency warning systems in place.

How far are the nearest airports and what is easiest transport?

From Canada & the US many flights can come in to Manchester which is nearer than London. From here it is a direct train journey of approx. 2 hours to York. We can also provide details of a local chauffeur, who we and many other guests use, as this can work out almost as cheap as train fares when there are a few travelling, and certainly more convenient. If flying into Leeds/Bradford from Europe or on the London shuttle you will need to take a taxi to Leeds railway station for a train to York or use taxi/chauffeur all the way to York.

How can we book our break?

The availability calendars are always up to date so check first that the dates you want are available by clicking on the ‘availability/search’ or ‘book’ tabs. If booking your break more than one month in advance you will be asked to pay a 40% deposit. The balance will be due one month before arrival. If arriving within the month the full amount will be required upon booking. Payment can be made by card by using our secure on-line booking page. Just click on the ‘book' tab and follow the simple process to check availability, place your booking and to pay the deposit or full amount. We accept all credit and debit cards but please note we do not accept Amex, cheques, cash or bank transfers.

What happens when we have booked?

If booking on-line you will receive an immediate e-mail confirming your booking and the payment made. You will then receive a more detailed e-mail with further confirmation of your booking, including information regarding address, access, directions, car-parking etc. If you have paid a deposit only, you will be sent a secure payment link approximately five weeks before your arrival so that your final payment can be made. Booking by phone will follow the same process.

How do we get the keys?

Arrangements will be made with you closer to the date to confirm arrival time so that your hosts can meet you to show you around and to hand over your keys, building and parking fobs.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Your accommodation will be ready from 2.30pm. Check out is before 10.30am so that the property can be prepared thoroughly between guests.

Do we have to clean up when we leave?

No! Many self-catering properties ask you to do this or charge separately. Everything will be spotless when you arrive, and it is the host’s job to make sure the apartment is spotless again for the next guests. Obviously you are asked to respect the property and its contents, and to leave all in good order.  We do ask though that you remove all waste to the recycling and rubbish bins provided at the side of the building.

Do you accept children?

Sorry, the accommodation is not equipped for children.

Is this property suitable for wheelchair users?

The property does have a lift from the building entrance straight to first floor level where the apartment is located. However, there are a couple of steps leading to the apartment itself. There is also the risk that on very rare occasions the lift might be out of action for maintenance. There are disabled parking bays near the ground floor entrance for guests with mobility issues.

Are there any restrictions?

There is strictly no smoking or vaping within the apartment or its building. Also animals/pets are not permitted. The property accommodates up to two guests. The property is not suitable for children. We also do not allow hen, stag or other such parties, as the property is in a peaceful residential area.

Do you have any hidden charges?

No we don’t. Only unauthorised use of the phone may be charged (a phone is provided for emergency calls and to contact your hosts if required). Also any replacement or repair costs for damage during your stay. This forms part of our terms and conditions so you are advised to read the terms and conditions at our website and to ensure that your house insurance protects you against damage; and you agree to pay any recompense within 4 weeks of departure.  There will also be a charge if keys and fobs are lost togther with any costs we incurr paying for later guests' parking whilst awaiting a new parking entry fob.

A complimentary drink and delicious Yorkshire treats are provided for your arrival. You will also find ample tea, coffee, milk and sugar. At an extra charge of £30 you can purchase champagne and chocolates for that special occasion.

Complimentary wi-fi is provided throughout the apartment. There is a 49” SMART TV in the living room and a 43” SMART TV in the bedroom, with Freeview & Netflix.  A blue-tooth sound system is also provided for use.
