3 Bedroom Grade II listed historic and award-winning building

5 Star Self Catering Holiday Accommodation - Sleeps 6 max

Summary

Ebor Malthouse is another superb addition to the highly regarded properties offered by multi-award winning York Luxury Holidays for unrivalled holiday accommodation in York. This fantastic and unique holiday accommodation was previously a late 19th century malthouse, used until 1950 for preparing the malt for York’s breweries. Indeed, the building’s main entrance houses the original processing equipment being a wonderful reminder of its historic past. Now a magnificent holiday home, this grade II listed property has won top design awards for its sympathetic conversion.

The interior of Ebor Malthouse is stunning and offers guests every possible modern-day comfort within its historic walls.

With three sumptuous bedrooms, one of which is en-suite, an additional family bathroom, a wonderfully comfortable living-room, mezzanine dining-room, designer kitchen, lovely private shared garden and located on a quiet Victorian Street only a short walk to the city centre, Ebor Malthouse has to be the place to stay to make lasting memories.

Guests can stay for two nights or more and can arrive any available day. (Please note restrictions apply at Christmas and New Year.)

Description

The beautiful Ebor Malthouse is just about a ten minute walk from the city’s historic Castle and Coppergate areas where the Castle Museum, Clifford’s Tower, Jorvik Centre and, in summer 2018, Shakespeare’s Globe, are located. It is also just a couple of minutes from river walks and cruises and from the award winning Bishopthorpe Road, known as the Notting Hill of the North with all of its shops, delis, restaurants and welcoming atmosphere. York racecourse is just over a mile from the property.

Through the front door of the main building guests can visit the original malt processing room and view the equipment - a truly unique and historic feature.
The accommodation itself is spread over four floors and is furnished to the highest of design standards and offers lots of space, quality and comfort, inside and out, for up to six guests.

The front door leads into a lobby area (containing the doors to the historic malthouse furnace) and then into the superb high-roofed designer kitchen with breakfast bar and window seat. There is a separate utility room with washer and drier facilities.
At mezzanine level, open to the kitchen area below, is a lovely dining-room. The open plan design between the kitchen and dining areas make for a wonderfully sociable space.
Also accessible from the kitchen is the back entrance, leading via a corridor to the lovely private shared garden.

On the next floor, above the dining room, is a supremely comfortable living room, a compact but well appointed double bedroom and a spacious designer family bathroom with bath and shower over.

Then on the top floor are two sumptuous super-king bedrooms (one bed splits into twin beds) and an en-suite shower room to the main bedroom.

Parking is on the street outside with the provided permit.
This really is a superb holiday property offering guests a terrific location from which to explore York, and to be away from the hubbub at night.

Are you open all year?

Yes! Stays can be as short as 2 nights or as many as 30 nights. Guests can arrive any available day. Please note, however, we do not accept arrivals/departures on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve or New Year's Day. A higher minimu nights' stay applies over these periods.

How central is Ebor Malthouse?

Just about ten minutes’ walk from the Castle area of the city across the River Ouse.

Is it noisy being in the centre of the city?

Despite being close to the city centre, Ebor Malthouse is in a quiet residential area just outside the city walls.  York is a bustling and busy city at any time of year as there is so much to see and do but it is rare for anyone to be disturbed by noise. Even The Minster bells are considerate and don’t ring at night!

Are we likely to feel hemmed in?

Ebor Malthouse is a four-storey house with plenty of natural light flooding through the windows. The accommodation is bright and airy so occupants should feel comfortable and relaxed. The large malthouse building is set amongst but slightly separate from smaller terraced housing, in a well kept, quiet residential area.

How accessible are you by train?

Ebor Malthouse is a short taxi ride or a 15 minute walk from York Station. York is on the main rail routes between London and Scotland with trains running a few times an hour (2 hrs to London and 2.5 hrs to Edinburgh). We are also served very well with trains to the west and east, as well as Manchester Airport. The apartment is just about a 15 minute walk from the station. Call 08457 225 225 for fantastic deals on the East Coast Mainline, particularly first class tickets which, when booked in advance, can be cheaper than the standard price. Advance tickets can often be purchased cheaper than buying on the day.

If we travel by car where can we park?

On street parking is allowed outside for one vehicle with the designated permit

I understand York floods regularly, will we be affected?

Threre are no records of Ebor Malthouse ever flooding, so it is very unlikely.  York has a flood alert system, and the property is well protected should an extreme flood event occur.

How far are the nearest airports and what is easiest transport?

From Canada & the US many flights can come in to Manchester which is nearer than London. From here it is a direct train journey of approx. 2 hours to York. We can also provide details of a local chauffeur, who we and many other guests use, as this can work out almost as cheap as train fares when there are a few travelling, and certainly more convenient. If flying into Leeds/Bradford from Europe or on the London shuttle you will need to take a taxi to Leeds railway station for a train to York or use taxi/chauffeur all the way to York.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Your accommodation will be ready from 3.30pm and, if no-one is leaving that morning, it may be ready earlier by arrangement. Check out is before 10.00am so that the property can be prepared thoroughly between guests.

Do we have to clean up when we leave?

No! Many self-catering properties ask you to do this or charge separately. Everything will be spotless when you arrive, and it is the owners' job to make sure the apartment is spotless again for the next guests. Obviously you are asked to respect the property and its contents, and to leave it in good order.

Do you accept children?

Because of the stairs and mezzanine area this property is not suitable for children under the age of six.

Is this property suitable for wheelchair users?

Because the property is spread over four floors with sleeping, seating and bathroom accommodation being on floors three and four, this property is designated as not suitable for wheelchair users.

Are there any restrictions?

There is strictly no smoking within the apartment, its building or the garden. Also animals/pets are not permitted.
